Natural disasters continue to be a global concern, especially with their increasing frequency and intensity. Recent news shows the serious impact of events such as floods, earthquakes and forest fires that hit various parts of the world. For example, the recent floods that hit Pakistan have affected more than 30 million people and destroyed vital infrastructure. As a result, the country is experiencing a deep humanitarian crisis, highlighting the urgent need for international assistance. On the other hand, forest fires in California and Australia are occurring again, with extreme temperatures favoring the spread of fire. Apart from environmental impacts, these fires result in habitat loss, threats to biodiversity and air pollution disasters. Many countries are starting to adopt mitigation measures, including the use of new technologies for earlier fire detection and suppression. Earthquakes also show an increasing trend in high-risk areas, such as Indonesia and Japan. The 7.6 SR earthquake that occurred in Central Sulawesi at the beginning of this year killed hundreds of people and injured thousands. The global response to this disaster involved aid efforts from various countries as well as cooperation in scientific research to improve early warning systems. In the context of the global response, international organizations such as the UN and the Red Cross have become increasingly active in providing support. They set up rapid response units to help countries affected by disasters. Funding for post-disaster recovery is also important, as many countries are forced to adapt to climate change which is worsening conditions. Adaptation efforts being developed include building disaster-resistant infrastructure, educating the public about preparedness, and stricter regulations for development in disaster-prone areas. Several countries have introduced policies that base spatial planning on disaster risk analysis, involving local communities to increase resilience. The digital age has also had a positive impact on disaster response. Information technology, such as early warning applications and social media platforms, plays an important role in disseminating information to the public. This allows citizens to act quickly, save lives and minimize losses. Private companies are also starting to invest in innovations that support sustainability. Green technologies, such as renewable energy and sustainable agricultural practices, are becoming a focus to reduce the impact of future disasters. Awareness of climate change and resource limits is increasingly motivating cross-sector collaboration. Given the current situation, it is important for every country to prioritize disaster strategies and commit to long-term solutions. In addition, public awareness of the importance of disaster response measures must continue to be increased to face future challenges. As a global community, united efforts are needed to face and overcome the increasingly worrying impacts of natural disasters.
